Add your team
There are two different things called "team" in the dashboard. Most confusion comes from mixing them up.
- TAK users: the logins that devices use to connect to the server. Every phone, tablet or laptop needs one.
- Teams page (dashboard access): lets a colleague log into takgrid.com and manage the server with you. It does not put anyone on the map.
Add TAK users by hand
Server page, User Management, Add User. One user per device. The password is shown once.
No email is sent when you add a user. Give each person the server address, their username and their password, and point them to "Connect your first device".
Or let people register themselves
In User Management create a team, pick its channels and share its invite link (or its QR code, which opens the same sign-up page). Each person fills in the form; you approve the request on the Users page under Pending. They then get an email with the server address, port and steps for ATAK, iTAK and WinTAK. This is the only path that sends email.
You do not see each other on the map
A user only sees positions and chat from the channels (groups) they are in.
- Open the user in User Management and check the channels. Two people need at least one channel in common, set to send and receive ("Both ways").
- Changes apply when the device reconnects: turn the connection off and on in the app.
- On Scout and Ranger every user you add goes into your team's general channel automatically.
- Each device needs its own user.
Give a colleague dashboard access
Teams page, invite by email, pick the access level (Full, Medium, Light). They receive an email and the server appears on their own dashboard after they accept. If the email does not arrive, check spam and that the address is the one they sign in with.
Limits
Scout: up to 25 devices. Ranger: up to 60.
