TAKGRID — Cursor on Target Reference
Every Cursor on Target type ATAK ships with, next to the symbol it draws. Search by name, CoT type, or MIL-STD-2525 code, flip the affiliation, and copy the type straight into your data package, plugin, or Node-RED flow.

Anatomy
A CoT type is a dotted path read left to right, each element narrowing what the marker is. Take a-f-G-U-C-I — a friendly ground unit, combat, infantry:
a
Atom
The event is a physical thing in the world. Bits and pieces ('b') cover map graphics, chat, and other non-physical events.
f
Affiliation
f friendly, h hostile, n neutral, u unknown. This is the only part the affiliation switch above changes.
G
Battle dimension
G ground, A air, S sea surface, U subsurface, P space, F SOF. Taken from the third character of the 2525C code.
U-C-I
Function code
The remaining 2525C function characters, one per hyphen: unit, combat, infantry. Clients truncate what they do not recognise, so a-f-G still draws.
The MIL-STD-2525 symbols above are rendered in your browser by the C5ISR renderer, from ATAK's own 2525C-to-2525D translation table. The icon and iconset entries are the PNGs ATAK ships, with the CoT types its icon filters and iconset manifests assign them.
