Video streams (drone, body camera, phone)
Every plan includes a video server that takes RTSP, RTMP and SRT and shows the stream in ATAK, WinTAK, iTAK and CloudTAK. Scout has 1 stream, Ranger 5, dedicated servers are limited only by the hardware.
1. Create a lease
Open CloudTAK from your server page ("Manage in CloudTAK") and create a video lease. The lease gives you the addresses to publish to and to watch from. Users in the right channel see it in their video list.
2. Send video to it
Use an app made for streaming to a server:
- Phone: Larix Broadcaster (Android, iOS). Android screen: Larix Screencaster or ScreenStream.
- PC or drone ground station: OBS Studio.
- TAK ICU works poorly with our video server; use Larix (phone) or OBS (computer) when you can.
What goes where
- The stream path is only the stream id. Larix adds
/app/by itself in some fields; remove it or put the whole address in the URL field. - Publishing and watching use separate logins. Put the publish username and password in their own fields, not in the address.
- SRT: to publish, the stream id must start with
publish:. If the lease showsread:, replace it withpublish:. - RTSP for TAK ICU: split the lease's RTSP address into host, port
8554and stream path. In TAK ICU broadcast settings choose RTSP and paste the address. - RTMPS is the recommended way to publish.
- After an update of the browser client, do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R).
Sensors and scripts
Custom ports on a dedicated server are closed by default; ask support to open a specific one. The simpler way is to send data to port 8089with a certificate: use a user's "Download credentials" in User Management (PEM files) in your script or Node-RED TLS node. The user's channels decide who sees the data.
